Statement about the Heaven
In the freedom of this country and in the freedom of our Christ, I have decided to gather with some people on Wednesday evenings. Public statements by a certain local church leadership have been made concerning this. There are adult pornography shops as close to their church as the Haven but public statements have not been made by them about such places and their owners by name. On the contrary, unsolicited and public statements have been made about the Haven and people involved with it.
They have declared that the Haven is not sanctioned by them. I would like to make clear that their sanctioning was never necessary and therefore most certainly never asked for. And to infer that it should have been is the stuff cults and dictatorships are made of and is an insult to the freedom we all were created by God to enjoy.
As the father of two wonderful boys I know that while I have a great opportunity to instruct and guide, my goal should be not to produce children that will mimic me or depend on me to make their decisions for them. My goal should be to produce independent and positive contributors to society and the kingdom of God. I desire sons, not slaves, that will make their own choices and live out their own dreams... NOT mine.
I would not consider it a breach of anything when they do so, because their ultimate and eternal obligation is to their God, not to me. This? Is not everyone's opinion, but it is mine. I, as well, am the son of a Heavenly Father who has raised me in such a way. And as an earthly father, it would be a hypocritical thing for me to want to be free to dream and yet desire to rob my children of the same liberty.
